Interested in creating a list of series written (616) by Hickman so that I can see how close I am to having his Marvel run complete. This is what I've got off the top:

Wasn't that SHIELD miniseries an odd, galactic thing not really related to SHIELD? I thought I had picked that up at one point to have a look & decided not to get it as I didn't recognize anyone it appeared to be about.

It was a pretty far out concept that completely reimagined S.H.I.E.L.D. As this centuries spanning organization and guys like DaVinci and Ghengis Khan and Tesla were SHIELD Agents protecting Earth since the dawn of time. I think Howard Stark and Nate Richards were members back in the 50s. I only read the first two issues of the first series and I've since tracked down the entire first series, the Infinity issue, and 1 thru 4 of the second series. I'm just waiting for them to quit fucking around and out out the final two issues before I read the entire series. It's been three years now. Dustin Weaver is apparently a slow ass artist and keeps getting sidetracked with covers.

As an aside, it was a pain in the ass looking for issues because there's no way to tell which series is which, except the inker is different. So I thought I had a complete series, but I had 4-6 of the first, but issue 3 of the second. Then later on I ended up rebuying the first two issues of the first series thinking they were the second series. Eventually I tracked down all the correct issues.

This is why relaunching series with new first issues can go fuck itself up a flagpole.

Yep. TPBs.... I'm this close to resorting to the Chuxnarky method of just buying TPBs for new stuff. The only issue is when I get a burn on to read new comics, I want NEW fucking comics - not "new last year" comics. That, and enjoying the checklists & the bagging & boarding (I know, weird really but it's very OCD soothing as I'm sure we've all agreed upon in other topics) are about all that keep me investing in floppies.

Dude! Bagging/Boarding/Boxing IS kinda soothing isn't it? It's like "ahhhhh...a small part of my chaotic life now has order."

Other reasons I prefer floppies to TPBs.

1. Each floppie is like a little time capsule from the month it came out. The ads, the letters page, and if you go back far enough, even the odor and texture of newsprint.

2. The Cost. If I'm patient enough, the story you paid $24 for in Trade, I can read for between $1 and $2.

3. The HUNT. Which I figured out awhile ago. Scoring a HTF back issue after a long, long search gets me just as high as actually reading the issue. I love filling holes in my collection. I love seeing a row of long boxes I've yet to scrounge thru. I love being in a town I've never been in before and seeing if they have a comic shop.
The accomplishment of finding the last issue you need to complete a run is euphoric. You just can't get that with TPBs. And absolutely not with Digital. With digital, you're not "collecting" comics, you're just reading them.

It's is EASILY more the collecting for me than it is the comics themselves. That's fucked up, but 100 percent true. I'll say it again - I haven't read all my comics, not even close. I plan on it, I make lists of shit I want to read as a priority, I order big loads of stuff from mycomicshop to finish runs for reading, I get started and bang off 20-30 issues over a two day stretch... then I go back to playing wow like a retard, forgetting what happened in all the issues I just read, and letting the new comics stack up again for the next time. I'll never catch up.
