What was the very first "zero issue" of a comic?
No, really. I don't know. I'm getting frustrated with looking for this on Google or any other site; it's just mountains of reviews and solicitations for more recent zero issues.
I'm pretty sure it pre-dates DC's Zero Hour crossover. But I can't swear to that.
For that matter, what's the first "1/2 issue"? Anyone know?

The first Zero issue might have been Rai from Valiant?
I think the 1/2 issues got started as Wizard promotions.

Rai does sound right, now that you mention it. Funny that it was actually the end of the series, and the precursor to Bloodspot, IIRC.

I don't remember the specifics, but I think Rai kept the numbering going but it was in the future and it was called Rai and the Future Force and then Bloodshot got his own ongoing.
After that, I think Image did a few of their books with Zero issues. And then Marvel did a few (I think there was a Magneto Zero) before DC jumped on the bandwagon and fucked the premise to death.
Then Marvel came along a couple years later and fucked the dead premise with their "negative one" issues.
Then Grant Morrison said 1,000,000 issues! And everybody at DC gangabused him with their mouths for being such an awesome awesome.
Now we're getting "legacy" numbering from Marvel (Hulk, Captain America, X-Factor etc) and DC (Wonder Woman 600) and "Faux Legacy" numbering on books like Deadpool #900 and Wolverine #900. The first company to do faux legacy numbering was Bongo Comics on the Radioactive Man #1000.

Re: Here's a trivia question for you
the question is: why didn't they do that when they were doing "old man logan"? that would've made sense as it took place "in the future". does wolvie #900 also take place in the future? and if so, how the hell does it make any sense in relation to OML at this point?Rollo Tomassi wrote:Now we're getting [...] "Faux Legacy" numbering on books like Deadpool #900 and Wolverine #900.
Life is short. STUNT IT!

Re: Here's a trivia question for you
Wolvie 900 was just a collection of random stories (some reprints) and didn't have anything to do with 900. I'm just toally guessing here, but I think the 900th issue was a combination of the success of the Deadpool 900 issue and perhaps (I dont want to do the math) 900 appearances of Wolverine between his own title(s), his X-Men issues, his Avengers issues, etc.
