Way back in the day when I had a IBM 386, I used to have a screen saver with those things on it.

this is currently my desktop, because they're called 'julia sets' or 'juila islands' and that's my daughter's name.

also, i'm intrigued how similar the center of each of those spirals looks to the
crown chakra and if that's coincidence, influence of culture on the mathematician that 'designed' it or if there is some underlying movement towards spiritualism in the science/math world.

A friend of mine who was a math wizard (and is now a professor, in fact) once simplified chaos theory for me by explaining it as a theory that inherently disproves itself but looks pretty when you graph it.
