I was just sitting here and one hit about four minutes ago. Very minor. A 3.2 magnitude, centered about nine miles from here and about another nine miles underground. Just enough so that you know it's an earthquake (though it could've been a truck full of anvils slamming into the neighbor's house).

And people in California are scared shitless of lightning. That shit's natural. The earth moving, that's just fucked up.

It's just another sign that the Devil is coming on his flaming horse - don't fret too much.

Just make sure you not on the side of the faultline that is falling into the ocean.

People in Vegas are afraid of rain.

People here flip the fuck out when it snows, even if it's just a light dusting, because we usually don't get much. It all gets saved and then dumped HARD on us every few years, though.

With all the lights and shit, I would be too, that shit is a time bomb waiting to happen. One short circuit and BAM!!!

People out here are fascinated by rain, to the point that if a light smattering is coming down outside, it disrupts the entire office and they all have to run outside and watch it. I was walking to the copy machine room and everybody was headed out onto our roof patio and they were excitedly telling me "Rain! Rain!"

"Clearly none of you are from the midwest." I deadpanned. Then continued on to the copier.

They go apeshit here when it snows. Once, we got like a quarter-inch, and everyone's running around going nuts, playing in what's basically mud with a thin white coating, and totally bundled up even though it's only something like 35-40 degrees. "Aren't you going to play in the snow, Anarky?" "Sure, if I see any."

ha! yeah, i took the compost out to the porch and emptied the trunk of the car and brought my frozen-solid potted japanese white pine (pre-bonsai) the other day in my pajama pants and short-sleeve shirt the other night.
