Ok, here's the situation - I HAD an DVD player & a CD burner. I just replaced the CD burner with a new DVD burner. The new drive works great (plays, burns, the whole shebang). Apparently I pissed off the DVD player, cuz now it only plays music & data discs. It won't recognize a DVD. Tried new drivers, tried messing with the jumpers. Help. Please.

what kind of software do you use to watch movies on it? the software might've been rewritten to use the burner as the default drive, but it's hard to say what could've definitively caused it...
it might also now think that the burner was the original dvd drive and that the old dvd drive is now the original cd drive - have a look at your hardware config in start -> control panel -> system -> hardware -> device manager -> DVD/CD ROM drives.
if it says you have a dvd burner and a cd drive, that might be the problem...

Uninstalled all burning & movie watching software. All that is left Windows media player & that doesn't work either. Device manager says I have a DVD-ROM & a CD/DVDW.

First of all, I'd like to thank you all for the nice cards, flowers, & prayers you sent my way durring this difficult time. It's amazing what a can of compressed air and a CD lens cleaner can do. Or maybe it was all the cuss-words.
