It's something that fits into the Indiana Jones world as well as robot assassins would fit in Citizen Kane, or skateboarding ninjas in Casablanca.

It's George and Steve trying to tie all of their movies into one cohesive universe...

I know what you mean, but I still have a faint glimmer of hope for this movie, but maybe that's because of the marketing campaign kicking in. You can't stay on any channel for more than five minutes without hearing the Raiders march in a commercial. No matter how outlandish the movie could get (and if that Burger King toy is any indication, it could be), I would still be happy to see Indy on another adventure. I'm still optimistic about the other stuff in the movie too. Marion was my favorite of the original Indy leading ladies, so that's a plus for this movie for me. Cate Blanchett looks to be playing an awesome villain, so that's another plus.

There might be a slight spoiler in here, if you're a big fucking pussy.

I saw a new commercial for it last night and it still looked even more fucking amazing. I don't mind the :alien:s too much since they said that, like how the first three movies are somewhat like movies from the time period they're set in, so too is the new one. If ghosts fly around and people's hearts get ripped out but they survive and if Christian stories are interpreted as real then what's the big deal with aliens?

I saw a new commercial tonight and in it, Cate Blanchett's character said something along the lines of "The skull was not made by human hands". So all evidence points to :alien: .

Indy 5...Minus the Indy??

The fourth installment of Indiana Jones doesn't hit theaters until Thursday, but there's already buzz about making a fifth film without Harrison Ford in the lead role.

While walking the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival for the premiere of Kung Fu Panda, George Lucas hinted to reporters about the possibility of a sequel to Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

"I haven't even told Steven [Spielberg] or Harrison this," he said. "But I have an idea to make Shia [LaBeouf] the lead character next time and have Harrison come back like Sean Connery did in the last movie. I can see it working out."

Although it's hard to imagine what Lucas has up his sleeve, passing the bullwhip to LaBeouf's character, Mutt Williams, could make sense. Rumors have been swirling for months that Mutt is Indiana's lovechild with Marion Ravenwood, played by Karen Allen.

But, for now, diehard Indy fans can breathe easy: Ford, 65, hasn't hung up his fedora just yet. On Friday he told reporters, "Till they tell me otherwise, I will continue to be Indiana Jones."

Immediately after making the comments, George Lucas was hit in the head with a 12" Jar Jar Binks figure by an unknown assailant.

This is why I don't watch George Lucas movies anymore. They're just too depressing.

Indiana Jones rides into Cannes film festival

CANNES, France (Reuters) - Whip-wielding archaeologist Indiana Jones rides into Cannes on Sunday, with star Harrison Ford, director Steven Spielberg and creator George Lucas hoping to avoid a critical lashing.

"Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" is the hotly anticipated follow up to the third chapter of the franchise, "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" released 19 years ago.

With a red-carpet world premiere likely to be watched by thousands of fans in the Riviera resort and hundreds of reporters and reviewers, the Cannes launch guarantees maximum media exposure as well as intense critical scrutiny.

In 2006 "The Da Vinci Code" was showcased in Cannes and received a mauling from the critics. While the cool reaction did not prevent it making an estimated $760 million at the worldwide box office, it was an uncomfortable opening for the movie.

"It's always fun to come to Cannes," Lucas told reporters on Saturday at a press event organized, unusually, before the first screening of the film.

"It's a nice place when it's not raining," he added, referring to cool and wet weather during the festival this year.

But he added that the risk of negative reviews from the festival's notoriously picky critics was "probably higher" than a launch in, say, Los Angeles, New York or London.

"TOMATOES THROWN"

Lucas also expected a backlash from the public, recalling how unpopular he was with many fans when he revived the original "Star Wars" franchise with the 1999 movie "Star Wars Episode I - The Phantom Menace."

"I explained to Steven when we sat down on this, I said ... when you do a film that's this anticipated, people have a tendency to believe it's going to be the second coming and no matter what you give them they're going to be disappointed.

"We're all going to get people throwing tomatoes at us. But it's a fun movie to make. We love it."

Ford was also confident the fourth Indiana Jones installment would wow viewers.

"We have a degree of confidence that it will be an experience that people will enjoy," the 65-year-old said, adding that there had been no attempt to hide his age.

The story of the Crystal Skull is set in 1957, 19 years on from the plot of the third movie in a franchise which has made over $1 billion at the global box office in 1980s dollar terms.

Ford teams up again with Karen Allen as Marion Ravenwood, his love interest in the first film, "Raiders of the Lost Ark."

Shia LaBeouf also stars, and Australian actress Cate Blanchett plays Soviet agent Irina Spalko.

Asked if he, Spielberg and Ford were planning a fifth Indiana Jones movie, Lucas replied: "Harrison, Steven and I haven't talked about it. We can't do it unless I can come up with a good idea, which I haven't." Obviously you will realize Lucas is out of his mind if you read the other article which contradicts this statement.

I wonder if Newsbot is excited?

I really can't fathom how people can possibly not think Lucas has lost it at this point.

Do you all see now why I don't want to see Indiana Jones IV until I get a lot of confirmation from people I trust that it's a good movie?

To be honest, I had my first dose of concern today during a TV spot. The one set with the 4 pillars rising or falling or whatever just appeared way too "National Treasure" for me or something.

There really, truly is something to be said for action movies made WITHOUT CG. Too bad they're totally unheard of these days.

After John Williams wrote the score for Raiders, he fucked Marion silly.
