You know the reason the 7" Unleashed was cancelled, right?
After ROTS, the sales of that line didn't increase as much as sales of the other lines.
Think about this for a minute. Unleashed had a
very faithful following. Sure, you didn't get kids buying them, but I know a lot of adults who aren't collectors who bought an Unleashed or two. And all the collectors were completists. (It was possible to be a completist with Unleashed.) But everyone who's going to buy them pretty much already is. You don't have the new blood like you do on a line of $6 action figures that actually move. Plus, you only have three of them vs, what, 60 new ROTS figures at once?
Of course the sales increase isn't going to be the same as the basic figures! But they didn't lose money!
And why they're not coming back: They keep re-releasing the same molds over and over. You all know that. But some retailers complained they took up too much shelf space and cost too much. So they somehow decided to fix that by making the packages bigger, and adding $5 to the price.

And the ones they're re-releasing aren't the ones people want. Aside from Boba, every re-release was easy to find in the initial release. Most went to clearance. And yet, something like the second Vader (with removeable helmet), which everyone wants, they won't release! Every year at Comic-Con, they're asked about it, and say, "That's not a bad idea, but it's not in the plans." Why not? Did people requesting that one figure every year for three or four years, combined with resale values on eBay, not clue you in that people want it?
Yet they keep say they're testing the waters, re-releasing the same crap and hoping that, magically, it will sell better than any Unleashed figure did originally. They say they can't spend money on new sculpts.
Never mind that they could do new sculpts, sell them as online exclusives for a little more than original retail (maybe $20-$25 each), and sell more than enough to turn a profit.
Big business logic may be screwy, but Hasbro really confounds me sometimes.
