anarky wrote:The parallels between the duel here and Vader's duel with Ahsoka were beautiful. They even included the cold, calm "Then you will die."

I missed the familiar themes until that absolutely beautiful (if you weren't moved to tears, you have no soul and fuck your Uncle Rodger while claiming to not be gay) scene where Obi-Wan returns to Alderaan. Waiting until the end to use the themes gave them so much more power.

Also I just love that, in the new shows and movies, Vader is portrayed as far more powerful and terrifying than anything we got on screen before, yet also more tragic and physically vulnerable.

But only four people have been able to physically hurt Vader. And they're the four living characters he's closest to, so it makes the most sense.
Didn't he kill a couple people a couple townspeople trying to lure Obi-Wan of hiding before they faced off the first time? Plus, the all the younglings. Which does make it kind of weird that he is redeemed from killing all of those innocent people just by tossing Palpatine down a shaft.

If Tom Foolery is going to call bullshit on the refugee ship escape, then I'm calling bullshit that some fire would stop Vader from letting a droid slowly walk away carrying Obi-Wan.

So there is definitely going to be a Season 2, right? Reva's story isn't complete, and they can't just tease that old friend showing up at the end.

Reva could get her own show. I'd be inclined to pass, but I can see it happening.

And yes, Vader broke at least one neck (was it a neck?) trying to lure Obi Wan out in episode 3.

so, we've had these lamps for about 5.5 years now. we got them during our Disney trip, and had "normal" bulbs in them for a long time until one of our cats knocked the "Rebellion" lamp over and severely damaged the shade. fast-forward to last year when i started to get into smart home automation and set up a Zigbee RGB bulb in the "Empire" lamp and can turn it red on-demand (or any other color, but why would it not be red?). this weekend i finally sat down to try to repair the other lampshade (i could not find a replacement ANYWHERE for the life of me!). now the circle is complete.

And THIS is how you realized you were over SW completely?? By putting dope-ass bulbs in your nerd lamps?

heh, i see the title of this topic as more ironic than anything else. 125 pages of posts about how we're "over" Star Wars?

i also have an Alexa routine set up to set the colors as seen in the first two pics when i say "Alexa, may The Force be with you" (or alternately "The wish power is together with you" a la "Backstroke of the West"). she the sets the lamps to this scene, says "And also with you", and starts playing the Imperial March. but the playback of voice and music seems to only work with official Echo devices, and we have a Sonos system in the den, so the audio doesn't kick off there for some reason.

Did you get the lamps AT Disney, or just while you were down there? Because I don’t remember seeing anything that cool in the parks themselves.

yeah, we got them in the park, at the "Star Wars Launch Bay" in Hollywood Studios. this was March 2016. these were marketed as "Luke's Lightsaber" and "Darth Vader's Lightsaber". from what i can tell, the Luke base was a reissue of "Anakin's Lightsaber" that was released along with Yoda and Obi-Wan bases around 2012 that all shared the same "Jedi Order" insignia lampshade instead of the "Rebel Starbird" shade. the company that made them is apparently "Museum Replicas".

My wife started working at a Hallmark store last year. For my birthday, she bought me a Millennium Falcon desk lamp. Its weird that we are in the lamp phase of Star Wars collecting.

I’m pretty sure that sentence has never been uttered before, so it gets Quote of the Day.

I was reading an article about the Mon Mothma character in the new Andor show. Mon Mothma is only one of 4 women in the OT to have speaking lines. Leia, Toryn Farr, and Aunt Beru being the other 3. It never occurred to me that only 4 women spoke in those 3 movies.

Yarna's floppy titties speak to me in a very real, but non-verbal way.

I was like "who is Toryn Farr???" - apparently she's the one on Hoth who says "stand by, ion control".

I only knew that because she had her own Decipher card. That card game was THOROUGH. Every single character who was onscreen for a single frame had a name and backstory.

I remember he name from the other site because she was on all of the Hasbro wish lists. I don't think they ever made her.
