DC announced another half dozen title cancellations. Firestorm, Deathstroke, Hawkman, Ravagers, Team 7, and Sword of Sorcery.
I'm not keeping track, but I think that's about half the 52 titles from the New52 Launch that are gone. It's only been a year and a half.

DC is doing two new titles based on the Economic divide between The 1% and The 99%.

 Honestly, even if I was trying to do Absurd Satire of DCs publishing choices, they would still one up me every time.

Those actually sound like they could work... but not in the DCU or DCnU. Guys like Batman fuck it up pretty badly.

I'm watching this whole Superman/Orson Scott Card dilemma unfurl over at CBR and I'm amazed at how many closeted gay bashers come out of the woodwork to defend their fellow gay basher. I guess I'd always assumed that a lifetime of reading the adventures of guys like Superman and Spider-Man might lead to people having a stronger sense of what's heroic and what's stupid ignorant bigotry, but apparently not. Oh sure, they codify it by saying "I don't have anything against gays personally, but..."
But it doesn't come across as any less repulsive.

It's not that I'm against jackasses utilizing their First Amendment Rights. I'm all for it. I think the more a dumbass opens his mouth about whatever rant he's on makes it easier to for people to realize he's a loony jackass. But people's arguments in defending his gay bashing pulpit are simply asinine.

Y'know, I've always been of the mind that, unless he's writing a gay character or about gay characters, who gives a fuck? If he writes a good Superman, he writes a good Superman. If his views don't affect the story, it's no less discrimination to say he can't write it. It reminds me a bit of how a lot of my more liberal friends hate Ted Nugent and refuse to listen to his music, even on the radio... he may be a fucking wackjob, but that doesn't make "Stranglehold" any less awesome.

I find it humorous they're calling for him to get 'fired' or whatever. It's a Digital First series. Chances are better than good he already wrote it and cashed the voucher for doing it. It'll show up on their Digital website a month or more before it gets printed in the book.

And seriously, nothing anybody says in a forum is gonna change the other guys' minds. Ever. Simply put, vote with your wallet. That's all you can do.

BTW, Ender's Game is one of my favoritist books ever. I started a Topic in the Book Forum here probably a decade ago. But I've since read OSCs views on gays and mostly I feel sorry for the guy. I think he must've been brainwashed by his Mormon parents and teachers as a child, because his views are just...dumb and sad. I mean, somebody arguing the Earth is flat and on the back of a giant turtle is less pathetic than his views on gays.

Superman has always been about oppressing gay people. If a gay rights advocate like Card wants to dance in the next movie, it's a little disturbing. Then again, the tide is turning, and those gay folks will get their rights taken away within the next generation. I'm just glad that all the war movies won't be pornos about gay soldiers in the shower now that straight guys can serve.

What the hell?! :???: It's Earth-2, where things are "slightly" different.

Good god, man. It's not Bizarro World!

So, an ongoing Batman/Superman title?

Let me get this straight.

DC has boxed themselves into "we will always have 52 titles."

Every time a title is canceled, one has to take its place.

They have dozens of characters who were basically tossed aside for the DCnU. Characters who fans beg constantly to see again. They insist that there is only one universe (despite there being an Earth-2, which is clearly separate and is one of the 52 titles). They refuse to re-use any of those characters, even in an alternate universe or even a continuation of their pre-DCnU existence.

And every round of new titles adds one or more Superman, Batman, or Justice League books, along with shit that Geoff Johns or Jim Lee has some inexplicable hard-on for but that you know is going to be canceled before ten issues. (Who the fuck is clamoring to even see Vibe again, much less in his own ongoing?)

How long until the "New 52" consists of Wonder Woman, Flash, six Green Lantern titles, twelve Superman titles, fifteen Justice League titles, and seventeen Bat-family titles?

Wait, they're cutting back on Batman books?

I'm not sure who trolls harder, fans asking about Wally West and Stephanie Brown, or Bob Harras and Bobbie Chase continually shining those fans on with non-committal answers. I swear, Wally continues to be DCs most popular character because, not in spite of, him not having his own series.

And it's funny that DC leans on those five characters so much, but the idea of a feature film starring those characters makes their balls shrivel up and they all have fights about who can scream "Tax write off!!" the loudest.

The part about 'only one universe' cracked me up. Especially since they made such a big deal about the Multiverse coming back not five years ago. And the number 52 being significant for BOTH events.

And isn't Morrison supposed to be working on some epic cross-multiverse series? Or is that shitcanned now? I don't follow DC news too closely anymore. What happened to All Star Batman 11?

What happened to All-Star Wonder Woman, All-Star Green Lantern, and all the other once-announced All-Star books?

If every one were as good as All-Star Superman, everyone on earth would read them all.

DCnU finally does something cool!

DC is re-re-re-re-re-rehashing Batman's Origin with a year long "Year Zero" storyline. They say it won't change Year One. Probably not change, but certainly reduce its impact to a minor footnote in the new EXTREEEMME ORIGINZ OF DA BATMAN!!!!!1!1
