This isn't going completely away, but it just got bumped down on my list as of this evening.
I'm far more psyched about reading the Barsoom novels now, which all appear to be public domain.

For what? I just said it got bumped from "next" to "after I read a short book." I can't read the whole damned Barsoom series at once.

Re: A Song Of Ice And Fire
I kinda want to start a 2nd topic, like a timeline of key events (by character), just for reference sake. Included would be "holy shit factor" ratings of certain key events, that folks could discuss. History would not be included as that would be a disaster, just point notes for each focal person. Not sure if I have the motivation to actually do it though. Really honestly I could likely edit any of these posts & just keep quoting it then removing quotes & amending. Hmmmmmm.

Re: A Song Of Ice And Fire
That would be kinda difficult for readers at various points in the different books. For instance, you could be doing a detailed timeline for a character that I know already kicked the bucket. Or that characters direction might change because of some other characters' death(s). But I can't "add" information to your timeline, because that would spoil it for you. See the dilemma?
For all you know Sansa is all lesbo with Dany, and Arya is the biggest villain in the books now. See? You don't know. (None of that is true....so far. Just an example.) But that's my point; if you pick ANY character from book one and try and extrapolate their story trajectory based on just one or two books, then compare that to where they actually are in book five, the gulf between the two is HUGE. And one can only assume that gulf only gets larger in the finaltwo three books.
I did this with a friend of mine. I asked his to tell me who the ten most important characters are, based on his viewing of the First Season. He named them. Then I told him what percentage of them were deceased already. He was staggered. I didn't tell him who, and I won't tell you how many.
Then I did the same thing only Top Five. And again, I shocked him with the death percentage. And finally, there are major players on the board that aren't introduced until well into the series. And I'm sure there are even more yet to come.

If you're gonna do a "Clap" Gif, this one is more appropriate for this forum.

"No Tom Foolery today, Ron. I'm tired of looking at your dreadful, speckled mug."

Re: A Song Of Ice And Fire
I've been trying to get Rollo Tornassi to read A Song of Fire and Ice (you got the name wrong, Tomassi) for years. He says he doesn't read anything that had to be translated from ancient Swahili, and has heard there are too many transcribed dance numbers that go on for too, too long. He said he'd rather eat shit, and then ate a few pounds of it to prove that point.

Yer darn tooting'
Everybody is going apeshit over the first book being made into an HBO series, A Prefect of Strangers. But I have no interest in what Balki and Larry are doing, which cousins they're sleeping with, and which ones they're throwing out windows.
Nor am I excited about the second season which starts in a couple of weeks and is based on the second novel, A Family of Matters.
