Semi-Dayley dose of METAL

uh, y'know, the sounds that sound good together... sometimes... and sometimes sounds like the disgusting "squish squish" sound Slicker's mom makes whenever she walks

I liked it when they did Unplugged and had Eric Singer sing part of it, then Peter Criss hops in with a classic chorus contribution.

On a sour note, take a look at what these cunts are doing:
http://www.cnn.com/2010/SHOWBIZ/Music/0 ... tml?hpt=T2
I can't say I'm surprised...but it's still annoying. I get it, the metal genre has some stigmas attached to it but honestly, Dio has one of the kindest reputations and was much more Christ-like than any of these morans (sic).

I loved the peanut gallery comment saying that after Dio establishes his reign in Hell, they hope he sends a hellbeast to devour these people.

Some good lyrics in this one, too.

I never caught that about "Nothing to Lose." Damn.

It's always surprised me that people don't get offended by Kiss lyrics. How many of their songs are blatant as hell about banging underage girls?

Sure, when you call a tune "Christine 16" and include lyrics like "she's been around, but she's young and clean" and "I usually don't say things like this to girls your age, but when I saw you comin outta school, that day I knew I've GOT to HAVE you", one would think that eyebrows would be raised

Also, the song "Deuce" is totally about actual douche- "get up and get your grime all outta here", "do the things it (I guess the instructions on the douche) says to do" and "if yer feeling good, baby if yer feelin nice" all's they didn't say was "if you want to feel extra freshness" and mention massengill

Ladies Room has some fucking funny lyrics too, but I guess you could say that about at least half of their early output :mabs:

Funny, I always thought it was "get your grandma outta here," which doesn't make much more sense.

I just thought "Deuce" was about a dude gettin' a double tap from his lady.

That dude in question? 2-1B. :D

There was a public memorial for Ronnie James Dio on May 30th. There were some live performances. Here is the condensed version. There is also a 6 part version, but the guy that filmed it did some strange things with the camera.

OK, this wouldn't fir into any traditional definition of actual metal BUT- this is definitely in keeping with the true principles of metal, and is probably the heaviest reggae tune ever, it gives me goosebumps every time, mostly cos unlike so much music, Peter Tosh REALLY meant what he said- "I'm like a stepping razor-don't you watch my size, I'm dangerous"

I don't know if many folks on here know many Jamaicans, but I know enough (our area has tons of seasonal workers here due to the fruit-growing/farming that goes on) and they don't fuck around. Peter Tosh himself survived being shot a few times but somebody eventually gunned him down.

The video provided is interesting and nicely atmospheric, too

If you haven't seen it and the chance presents itself, the documentary "Steppin Razor Red X" is a really cool watch, it used to all be on youtube. It is a really well-made look into just exactly what was happening in Jamaica at the time and how it influenced the musical styles, and how the music ended up influencing just about everything.

DethKlok- Go into the Water

For a fake band that is a fucking slammin fucking tune, the twin guitar gives me goosebumps, especially when recalling the stupidly epic situation over which this song first played, the Gulf of Danzig catastrophe

I liked that Manowar song.

I've seen enough episodes of Metalocalypse to where I can almost figure out what the show is about.
