Ever apply for a patent?

Post by Diabolical »

Seriously, have you?

I've had two ideas that I think are great, but I don't have the ability/knowledge to actually create them, which would be chemistry (I assume). Well, one of them I might be able to make a ghetto, homemade version of, but I'm not sure how well it work and I really don't want to be the test subject.

Do you need an actual prototype to get a patent, or just the idea?

Both products would be considered Health and Beauty products, and if possible, I'd love to possibly sell them to companies.

Don't quote me, but I think you need a prototype, or at least very detailed schematics.

I do know that it is not a good idea to send anything to those "services" that advertise on television. They essentially steal the idea from you by getting you to sign away all rights in exchange for a token amount.

I've also had several ideas for inventions but wasn't sure what was needed. I personally think they're decent ideas but I see them as being the same inventions that would go on informercials.

Yeah I never even considered one of those places. They seem no different than tv lawyers.

Nope, never applied for a patent. I'm just not very creative anymore, if you guys couldn't tell. I used to be very creative back in high school, but I'm sure my smoking of marijuana had everything to do with that. I would tear up some art class...
"Once there were brook trout in the streams in the mountains. You could see them standing in the amber current where the white edges of their fins wimpled softly in the flow. They smelled of moss in your hand. Polished and muscular and torsional. On their backs were vermiculate patterns that were maps of the world in its becoming. Maps and mazes. Of a thing which could not be put back. Not be made right again. In the deep glens where they lived all things were older than man and they hummed of mystery."

Thats too funny - I was just telling someone today that one of my art instructors said that some of his most creative students were the ones that admitted to getting high.

Check out the USPTO website. There is a section for inventors that lays out the basics.

that's funny, i was just thinking about one of my wife's friends who used to smoke up and call the patent office all the time - apparently it's not all that stringent...
Life is short. STUNT IT!
