I've said before: I thought they were overrated buffoons until the Grammys a few years ago. Not only did Jack pull off one of the greatest "fuck yous" to the Grammys by playing an old Son House number, but he kicked total guitar-shredding otter balls doing it.

Elephant is one of the best albums I've ever heard.

But Get Behind Me Satan makes it look like the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's Tribute to the Music of Abba.

Okay, I'm back. After one listen to "Get Behind Me Satan", I'm still waiting for the metal. I don't think it's BAD, per se, but there was no "Button is Button" or "Be Like the Squirrel" that really grabbed me by the sack and gave me head with teeth for five minutes.

I'll say again, this record is still like my mom's vagina - I've only been through it once. I know it'll grow on me, but I don't think there's any chance it's going to turn me out like "Elephant" does.

Next up, "X and Y".

On the first listen, I wasn't too hip to it. I mean, "Blue Orchid" sounds like something Kiss did for their discolicious Dynasty album.

But it does grow on you, mark my words.

"Little Ghost" is probably now my favorite White Stripes song of all time.

Oh, I'm still listening alright. I thought Blue Orchid actually got the album off alright, but I was turned off by (track 2 - name unknown). There are some good songs on there, it's just missing an "anthem" or something. But then it's really hard to express to anyone how much I truly love "Be Like the Squirrel". It's an awful lot.

Are you familiar with their self-titled album? The reason I ask is I just picked up De Stijl a few days ago, and that's the only one I'm missing. From what I've heard, it sounds like they started out almost as a straight blues band and have branched out a bit with each album. I know there are a couple of old blues covers on The White Stripes, which goes along with that theory, but I'm just curious if the album supports it.

I don't have any of their albums besides the last 2. I meant and meant and meant to pick up something else.... but didn't. Lately I've been on that "top 100" kick which has stopped me from buying anything else. I will likely go back one album at a time, until it's to the point where I don't like most of it.

A few days ago, I was going through iTunes looking for rarities, b-sides, tracks from soundtracks--you know, the stuff that 10 years ago you'd have to buy an entire CD you didn't want in order to get it--for a lot of artists.

There was a shitload of White Stripes stuff.

However, today, there's just their latest album and a few singles from 2007.

I e-mailed Apple (doubt I'll get a response) regarding this, and can't find any info online. You'd think if they were taking their catalog off iTunes, it'd be on their site or something.

So, I read an article on Tuesday that the Raconteurs (Jack's other band) just finished a new album and were rushing it out. It's supposed to be released this coming Tuesday.

The article specifically listed amazon.com as one of the places that'd have it, but so far there's no listing. I hope they get it in time; there are a couple of books I've been waiting on until I had something to get to the "free shipping" threshold.
